The open joint-stock company Federal Grid Company of Unified
Energy System (JSC FGC UES) is a key element in infrastructure of
the created Russian energy market. In accordance with the
applicable laws, JSC FGC UES is a natural monopoly as well. The
company business is regulated by the government. FGC UES operates
power grid equipment in 73 regions of the Russian Federation, which
have total land of 13.6 million sq. km and population of about 140
million people. The Company ensures the proper functioning of 118
045 km of electricity transmission lines and 758 sub-stations with
a total installed transformer capacity of more than 286,000 MVA,
with voltage ranging from 35-1150 kV.
