Introduction
The refinery telecontrol system is designed for monitoring and
control of pipelines within refineries and between them. The system
provides safe operation from a single control station.
Structure
The telecontrol system has three-level architecture.
Control Room Level:
- I/O servers with redundancy support;
- Operator and engineer workstations;
- Communication and office equipment.
PLC level:
- Programmed logic controller;
- Intrinsically-safe converters;
- Uninterrupted power supply system;
- Surge and lightning protection devices.
Field device level:
- Sensors, actuators and valves;
- Fire and security alarm and access control subsystem;
- Container house utility subsystem;
- Electrochemical protection devices.
Main Features
- Monitoring of major and auxiliary process equipment;
- Data processing and transmission to control software (SCADA)
via industrial networks;
- Control commands processing and transmission to actuators and
other field devices;
- Monitoring and control of fire protection and security
systems;
- Remote configuration of operation modes via industrial
networks;
- Data exchange via telecommunication channels;
- HMI and process visualization;
- Process data archiving with historical data access
capability.
The telecontrol system has a distributed architecture,
consisting of operation control center and remote control stations,
connected via telecommunication channels.
Benefits
The system is designed to ensure scalability in hardware and
functionality.
The telecontrol system components provide for additional
operation modes (simulation, testing, masking) and other features,
such as unauthorized access protection and event logging to monitor
personnel actions.
The system provides better integration with third party
systems.
